  • In 1926, Pennsylvania based Hershey Corporation built a 135-km-long electric railroad network in Cuba to transport product and personnel from Havana to Hershey’s sugar factory 45 km east of the capital city. The train was nationalized after the triumph of the Revolution and is still operational. The trip, with 47 stops, lasts about 4 hours, so if you’re not in a hurry, Hershey’s electric train is a nice choice. Its two 1944 cars were donated to Cuba by the Spanish city of Barcelona in 1997. Out of the 17 original cars, made in Pennsylvania in 1917, only three remain.
