  • The Hotel Nacional is a must-see fabulous place. In the heart of the city overlooking the Malecón you will drive past it repeatedly. The Comedor de Aguiar is very grand. You can sense the history that has happened here. Unfortunately this is all there is–a sense of past glories. It becomes a little intimidating, expensive with beautiful chandeliers and immaculate waiters, but sterile and strangely lifeless.

The food is expensive and very average. This is a grand place that has always been something of a letdown. I last ate here years ago, so it is worth looking in just in case they do a makeover at some point or it gets a new chef and a more buzzing atmosphere. Who knows? There is certainly the potential.
