  • Housed in the Casa de Juana Carvajal, this museum is the result of archaeological studies in the Historic Center and the preservation efforts made by the City Historian’s Office. Inside is a fascinating exhibition of pre-Columbian art, vessels and textiles, household objects from the 16th to the 19th centuries, and glass and ceramics from early shipwrecks in the bay.

Although this house dates from the early 17th century, making it the oldest on this stretch, it was in 1725 that it acquired its present appearance. It has fantastic mural paintings inside. In 1988 it was restored as the headquarters of the Gabinete de Arqueología (Archeology Department of the City Historian’s Office).
