  • The Lido Hotel is in Central Havana, near the Prado and La Habana Vieja, and could hardly be more centrally located. It is not in one of the poshest Cuban streets. In fact many of the nearby buildings seem about to topple over.

The Lido is above all a budget travelers’ mecca attracted by its mix of location, price and the friendly, no-nonsense service offered up by the staff behind reception. The rooms might be a little cell-like and the showers intermittently cold, but you’re getting good security, a prime location and basic but clean rooms. It has a handy internet terminal downstairs, breakfast on the roof and a helpful Cubanacán info desk. Then there’s the price – cheaper than most of Havana’s casas.

Location: The Lido Hotel is in Central Havana, near the Prado and La Habana Vieja, and could hardly be more centrally located.
