  • Cuba Absolutely Review: July 2012

Oh, La Dolce Vita. Named after the famous Italian film, this looks fabulous, chic, and elegant. Miami style. An awning out of a corporate tennis tournament covers the expansive patio terrace, which is decked out in up-market furniture. Beautiful. Inside, the bar and lounge area is comfortable and well done with a small number of tables available.

So far so good. Unfortunately, the night we ate there, the food was a serious letdown. Quite simply it was poor quality, inexpertly delivered, and, especially for the relatively high prices, disappointing. Given the effort, which has gone into the place, we don’t want to be too damning as it only opened in January 2012. It will however require a complete overhaul of the kitchen and menu more generally. Otherwise, however good the fashion shows and other events planned there, it is never going to have a regular clientele in an increasingly competitive market.
