When it was opened, the Tocororo was one of the first upmarket restaurants in Havana. This is an old style Havana state-owned restaurant. Lots of greenery and a piano player do at least give some atmosphere to the normal posh ambience.
This is not a bad place to eat if you are with a big group or want to check out a state restaurant. This is still one of the best of those. The pepper steak is excellent and the lobster very tasty. Is this enough to make up for the high prices? Possibly. Really depends on your agenda.
Bear in mind that El Tocororo bar (which is attached) is one of the most popular bars in Cuba with a real bar type atmosphere amongst expats and is a great place to have a drink or two.
