Best for: La Sesión, Havana’s 5pm Friday afternoon rap venue of choice.
Worst for: Slightly strange lay out for a club
Teatro Nacional de Cuba, Avenida Paseo, esquina 39, Plaza de la Revolución
(+53)7878 - 4275
Open 10pm-6am daily

  • This is the place to go at 2-3am when everywhere else is closed, although be warned that the queues can be long, hectic and the doormen decidedly dodgy! There is a varied program, which includes mainly smaller salsa bands. Beware of the karaoke. This is a happening place but make sure that you have had a few drinks before you arrive. If you ever make it during day light hours you will be able to appreciate the minimalist décor and great view over the Plaza de la Revolución.
Friday’s at 5pm also sees La Sesión at Delirio Habanero which is Cuban rap’s newest spot for lovers of this music genre, although La Sesión is not only about rap. Guests include the best DJs in Havana, singers and musicians from other genres, visual artists and actors from the stage. Shows are hosted by the Cuban actress Edenis Sanchez and rapper Bárbaro “El urbano” Vargas.
