Prado 309 esq a Virtudes | La Habana Vieja, Havana, Cuba
  • The Sociedad Juventud Asturiana is a Spanish cultural society from the province of Asturias, which has a special legal status in Havana. Essentially, the society functions as a cooperative, which means that the staff and management of each location have more independence and incentives to develop a number of wonderful buildings in Havana. Over the past few years, a number of restaurants have opened in each of these buildings, which have become some of the best places in Havana to eat.

The Centro Asturiano seems to have more restaurants within its ornate walls than you can reasonably shake a stick at. Los Gijones is on the second floor and was the site for the Old German Club (and subsequently American Club). This is a place of impeccable mahogany walls, which take you back 60 years to a different moment when this was one of the most exclusive dining clubs in the city.

Xana is dining option on the first floor as you go in. The renovation has been done well and this has a modern stylish vibe. The food looked pretty good when we stopped by.
