Famous Street
CA Ranking: 4
From Avenida Salvador Allende (Carlos III) to the Malecón
  • This avenue takes its name, Avenida de los Presidentes (Avenue of the Presidents), from the monuments that have been placed on its wide promenade to honor some of Cuba’s former presidents as well as other important historical figures, among them, Cubans Calixto García and José Miguel Gómez, Chilean Salvador Allende, Panamanian Omar Torrijos, Mexican Benito Juárez and Venezuelan Simón Bolívar. Most locals simply call it ‘Calle G’ (G Street), and with its trees pruned in different shapes and its lavish mansions, is one of the most splendid streets in Vedado. At night, mainly on weekends, the area becomes crowded with young people, who come here with guitars, drums and even windpipes to have a good time.
